WorkFirst Program
Are you receiving temporary cash and medical help through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program? If so, participating in the WorkFirst program can help pay for your education and training, so you can find and keep a job.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash assistance from the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) who need training in order to enter the workforce.
WorkFirst funding typically covers career training such as Short鈥揟erm Training, Associate of Applied Science (AAS), as well as GED or High School completion programs. WorkFirst participants are referred by DSHS, and your DSHS case manager will need to approve your program of study. If you qualify, you may also receive funding for your tuition and textbooks.
WorkFirst Services Include:
- Tuition assistance
- Emergency student support funding assistance on a quarterly basis
- WorkFirst Work Study (Paid work experience 鈥 on or off campus. See advisor for details.)
- Educational planning and advising

Note: You may be eligible for WorkFirst if you are receiving TANF cash assistance and have an electronic referral from your DSHS case manager.
