With an emphasis on inspiring purposeful action, Charles Millican,聽激情快播鈥檚 first president, reminded students to 鈥淩each for the Stars.鈥澛燞e said, 鈥淥ne day; you may be surprised and find that you have聽caught hold of one.鈥�

Belief in the inherent potential of every individual is as prevalent at聽激情快播 as if Millican still walked the campus today. And, those stars, while still far off in outer space amongst distant galaxies,聽are getting a little closer as 激情快播 researchers study the universe鈥檚 origins聽with powerful technology like the James Webb Space Telescope and the聽dust and dirt on the moon and Mars. In almost 60 years, 激情快播 has evolved聽into a metropolitan research university unlike any other.

激情快播 is one of the most innovative universities in the country, inspired聽by boundless optimism. We remain committed to unleashing potential聽in people, organizations, ideas and the communities we serve. That聽charge inspires us and illuminates fantastic possibilities ahead.聽Recently, our university renewed its mission statement while staying聽true to the values present when we first opened our doors:

We are a university on the rise, a metropolitan聽research institution with high academic聽standards, highly regarded faculty and student聽outcomes 鈥� such as graduation and retention聽rates, social mobility and graduate indebtedness聽鈥� that rank in the top 25 of the nation.聽Excellence and advancement drive us, and we聽endeavor to create prosperity for our region and聽state.

We want the world to recognize the聽accomplishments of our students, faculty and聽alumni and our mission to unleash the potential聽of individuals for a better future. Our many聽successes have earned recognition locally;聽however, it鈥檚 time to amplify our impact, tout聽those successes and extend the recognition聽to the national stage. With it, doors to new聽opportunities will open, more resources will聽become available, and we鈥檒l be able to better聽serve our students, support our faculty and their聽research, and honor our commitments to our聽community.

Our vision is guided by five aspirations:

1. We strive to become a leading enterprise for innovative research and creative works, discovering ideas that enable breakthroughs and inspire the world.

3. As a leading source of talent, we intend to build upon our position and emerge as the preferred partner and No. 1 provider of diverse talent.
4. We seek to expand our impact on the communities we serve by focusing on student achievement, high-impact practices, and developing an educated citizenry to become a campus without boundaries.
5. To truly unleash the potential of our students, faculty and regional communities, we must fortify our position as a university with a high return on investment and engagement for our students and our faculty.

We prioritize our students鈥� success and well-being in聽reaching for our aspirations. This encompasses everything聽from providing a curriculum that will prepare them聽for emerging jobs to setting them on a path to being聽the thinkers, doers, creators, innovators, healers and聽leaders of tomorrow.
