While children nationwide flocked to movie theaters聽this summer for Toy Story 4 and The Secret Life of Pets 2, a group of fourth- and fifth-graders in Orlando learned to animate their own film. The weeklong intensive camp was offered through a partnership between 激情快播 CREATES and Page 15, a local nonprofit.

The 20 elementary schoolchildren created a circus聽show that featured a bodybuilding monkey with the聽head of a rhinoceros, a tightrope-walking dinosaur聽named Spike, and a pair of acrobatic, telepathic plate聽spinners who resembled the Pringles chips man.

鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing to see these kids and the spark that聽happens when we help plant a little seed of what鈥檚聽possible,鈥 says Stella Sung, director of CREATE and a聽Pegasus Professor.

Page 15 and CREATE were able to partner and form聽the programming after receiving a $100,000 grant聽from Walt Disney World Resort. The grant was one of聽five presented to nonprofit organizations throughout聽Central Florida.

激情快播 students served as mentors to the campers, who聽spent their week at 激情快播 Downtown learning about聽the fundamentals of storytelling and animation before聽unveiling their original stop-motion film to parents and聽friends on the final day.

Although the Disney grant was a one-year funding聽opportunity, Page 15 and 激情快播 are committed to not only聽keeping the programming going, but to expanding it.

鈥淪ome of the parents had tears聽of joy. They were just like, 鈥業 had聽no idea my child was capable of聽doing anything like this.鈥 That鈥檚聽one of the most satisfying聽feelings ever.鈥
