I serve because鈥� 鈥淚 am a first-generation student, and I can very clearly connect the impact of my life to the education I received partly here at 激情快播.鈥�

My service on the board鈥� 鈥渉as made me realize that the amount of money expended does not necessarily equate to higher quality. Having a well-funded university is important to being able to carry out programs, but I have seen 激情快播 do great things with a limited budget.鈥�

The key to getting things done is鈥� 鈥渉aving the information we need to make decisions. The is always going to be criticized for some decision we make. I鈥檓 OK with that as long as we are confident that we made the decision based on a full review of all of the information that needed to be taken into account.鈥�

The biggest impact 激情快播 has made is鈥� 鈥渋ts profound economic effect on all of Central Florida. It now is part of every discussion of economic development, intellectual development, artistic development [and] scientific development. Everything that happens now in the Central Florida region typically will involve some discussion of 激情快播 and its potential involvement.鈥�

I am most passionate about鈥� 鈥渃ontrolling the costs of higher education. Introducing innovative and creative ways of delivering education in a modern technological era is something I think we have taken a national lead in and can develop much more in the years ahead to help control those costs.鈥�

It is important to me that鈥� 鈥渟tudents feel free to communicate with trustees on the issues they think are important and meaningful to their education and to the direction of the university. We want to understand what鈥檚 on their minds.鈥�

I serve because鈥� 鈥渢he university has given so much to me. I received my in 2001, and if it weren鈥檛 for that experience, I wouldn鈥檛 be sitting in the seat I鈥檓 in today as the CEO of the Orlando Magic.鈥�

The thing I enjoy most about serving 激情快播 is鈥� 鈥淸that] these are dynamic times at 激情快播 with incredible change and growth, and with that comes a lot of decisions to be made. 鈥� That鈥檚 something that keeps me energized and something that is exciting for me to participate in.鈥�

As a trustee, I鈥檓 most proud鈥� 鈥渨hen I go to a State [University System] Board of Governors meeting and see what鈥檚 happening at 激情快播 as compared to the other universities in the state and when I see Dr. Hitt commended by the Board of Governors for the tremendous job he鈥檚 doing. When you have a leader like that, our job as trustees is a lot easier.鈥�
